I hate to frame this post in such a diametric manner, but after watching this video, posted at Microsoft's
Channel 9 blog site, I'm convinced that Bill Gates doesn't really understand the ideas behind web 2.0, the
community-based Internet, or even the nature of IP networking itself. He really sounds like a mainframe operator
stuck at a PHP seminar, very much out of touch and seemingly trying to sound like he's on the same page with Tim
O'Reilly, who outdistances him in vision and market understanding. I mean, how could you be Tim O'Reilly up on that
stage with Bill Gates and not be completely floored as your relatively simple concept illustrations flew at mach speed
over Bill Gates' head? Take a look at the
video, and tell me what you think.O'Reilly 1, Gates 0

1. I think Bill Gates may have started as the ultimate tech geek, but now that he's so rich, he doesn't spend half as much time studying up.
Right as he says "[apple's] profit model is driven by selling the ipod" he's holding up a middle finger.
Hahaha. Good for a laugh.
