Vonage says it has set a $100 price tag for its WiFi VoIP handset, which is scheduled to hit the streets either by late summer or early fall. The company is currently in beta trials with handsets from VTech and UTStarcom.

(Page 1)2. I wonder how Vonage is going to react when Yahoo! launches their VoIP service using Xten's technology. Xten also powers Vonage's softphone. A report yesterday on Andy Abramson's blog http://andyabramson.blogs.com/voipwatch/2005/04/xten_should_be_.html indicates that Yahoo is already using Xten http://xten.com. Vonage had better get with the softphone/video program if they plan to compete.

4. Vonage does have a softphone option which makes use of the same XTen (Counterpath) software. Having tried it, I can say that the functionality is good and performance is of a high quality. In addition, there are Vonage configurations of softphones (incl. Xten again) available for other platforms such as the pocketPC, which I have also tried and found to be solid.
